Referrals

What happens when you are referred to Argyll and Bute Rape Crisis?

Self-referral can be done by phoning our main centre (01369 700800) or by calling our helpline (0800 121 4685), or by emailing support@ab-rc.org.uk. Once you make contact with us, our Support Services Manager will contact you by phone (unless you indicate a different preferred choice) and arrange to speak with you. This initial contact is for you to hear what we can offer, ask any questions and discuss timescales for getting support. She will then allocate a Support Worker who will be in touch with you as quickly as possible to get started on your recovery.

Third party/other organisations or agencies - we will only take referrals if permission has been given by the client.

To make a referral, please fill in our Referral Form (click to download) and email directly to our Support Services Manager at fiona@ab-rc.org.uk. You can also use any of the referral methods listed under 'self-referral'.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have prior to making a referral on behalf of a client.

During the initial phone call (or other type of contact from us) with our Support Services Manager, things like confidentiality will be explained. We might have some questions for you, but there won't be anything too probing. Once you've got all the information you need, you can have some time to decide whether you want to go ahead and be put in touch with one of our Support Workers.

When you are referred to Argyll and Bute Rape Crisis, either through self-referral or a third party, our Support Services Manager will be in touch with you as soon as possible after your referral is received. If you decide to go ahead with support, she will allocate you to a Support Worker who will be in touch to help you start your recovery. If there's likley to be a delay in arranging a support worker or there is the possiblity of you being placed on our waiting list, she'll advise you accordingly. If you're on the waiting list, she'll keep in regular contact with you until a Support Worker becomes available.

Your details will be held in a confidential database which anonymises your information. Access to this database is limited to key workers in the orgnisation.

Once your support worker has been given your details by our Support Services Manager, they will be in touch as soon as possible. As soon as they contact you, support can begin. They will arrange with you how you will contact each other, and set up appointments to make sure that you have the time to get the support you need.
